This is an opportunity for nonprofit CEOs and Executive Directors to speak directly with an HR professional. At this time, these clinics are limited to CEOs and Executive Directors only. Each clinic is limited to 5 participants.

Presenter Bios: 

Melissa Carson

Melissa has spent over 25 years of her career focused in the HR arena working across a few organizations and multiple business units, focusing on how to maximize the potential from the people on the teams and partner with the leadership to drive organizational success. Since 2005, she has worked from a home office on an average of 3 days/week and often full-time so is very experienced in working with virtual teams an spending heavy amounts of time on conference calls.

Her passion areas are in improving the overall employee experience and enabling emerging and current leaders for greater success. In past roles, she also focused on defining and implementing talent strategies, M&A due diligence and integrations, redefining performance management, and standing up an HR function in the NA region. She recently launched her own talent consulting and executive coaching business.

Michelle Ray

Michelle Ray, Managing Director of Blackwell HR Solutions, is a results driven Senior Human Resources leader and business partner. Michelle has used her dynamic human resources background and blend of experience in both private and publicly traded sectors to affect positive change in the organization's she has worked and consulted. She has proven success in creating cultures of collaboration and implementing positive change to achieve workforce excellence. Michelle possesses expertise in several areas of human resources including recruitment, employee relations, benefits and compensation, performance management and human resources compliance. She holds an Undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech, a Master’s degree in Organizational Development and Human Resources from George Washington University and a SPHR certification. Michelle lives in Wilmington DE with her husband and four kids. She is an avid runner and triathlete. Susan Chu

Susan has worked across various industries from manufacturing, engineering, media and publishing, to consumer, financial and professional services. She has spent most of her career working for large global companies. Through her broad experiences, she has helped companies innovate, build and evolve. As a former Chief Administration Officer at Advance Central Services (same ownership as Condé Nast Magazines), she helped lead the business transformation from print media to digital, built a Shared Services Center to support all areas of HR, IT and Accounting; and, created new talent strategies for 6,000 employees. While at DuPont, she earned her Six Sigma Black Belt certification focused on reducing global tax liability and creating efficiencies in training facilities. During her tenure at Booz Allen, Susan held an expatriate assignment in Singapore focused on restructuring the SE Asia operations during the Asian economic crises. Susan is an avid supporter of the entrepreneurship community. She provided mentorship to AndAgain, a start-up focused on sustainable and upcycled denim. Susan was also the Sponsorship Chair for MIT Enterprise Forum, Philadelphia, helping early stage bio-tech companies.

Additionally, Susan and her sister were Co-Founders of Tbar tea café in Philadelphia. The café was featured in Bon Appétit and was an early tea supplier to Ritz Carlton’s, 10 Arts Lounge. Susan is an Officer of the Board for Goodwill of DE & DE Counties. She also serves as a Governing Body Member for ATHENAPowerLink.

Susan holds a Masters in Organization Development from Carey School of Business, Johns Hopkins University, and an Undergraduate Degree from James Madison University with dual majors in International Relations and French
