The Delaware Academy of Medicine is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1930. Our mission is to enhance the well-being of our community through medical education and the promotion of public health. Our educational initiatives span the spectrum from consumer health education to continuing medical education conferences.
The Delaware Public Health Association was officially reborn at the 141st Annual Meeting of the American Public Health Association (AHPA) held in Boston, MA on November 5, 2013. At this meeting, the affiliation of the DPHA was officially transferred to the Delaware Academy of Medicine by the action of the APHA Governing Council.
The Academy of Medicine provides a meeting place for the medical and dental professions, as well as other related organizations, both in our own board room and in the John H. Ammon Medical Education Center (in partnership with ChristianaCare). We provide financial support for medical and dental students in the state of Delaware, as well as maintain the medical and dental archives collections of the first state.
