Development Assistant
Position: Development Assistant
Hours: Part-time, approximately 15- 20 hours per week during regular business hours. Hours may increase during peak times.
Location: 900 N. Washington St., Wilmington, DE
Reports To: Managing Director of Development
The Serviam Girls Academy (SGA) of Wilmington, Delaware, is an independent, faith-based, tuition-free
middle school that educates girls in grades 5-8 from under-resourced families. SGA is committed to
breaking the cycle of poverty through education. Serviam’s mission is to cultivate the potential of young
women through a challenging, holistic education rooted in the Ursuline tradition. Serviam offers an
extended day and year model, partnerships with families and community members, and support for
students beyond graduation.
The Development Assistant (DA) works onsite to coordinate and assist in all aspects of fundraising events,
such as organizing event details and data, event promotion, day-of execution, and after-event
acknowledgments and follow-up. The DA will coordinate and manage details in support of the Managing
Director of Development and volunteer event planning committees. The DA will organize and maintain
administrative processes that help track participant engagement and facilitate communication with staff,
committee members, and supporters to ensure a successful event. The DA must function efficiently and
effectively in a professional environment, exhibiting the utmost care and professionalism, especially when
handling highly confidential and sensitive details. At times, the role will include evening hours and remote
work.
Primary Responsibilities:
●Input and track donations, pledges, and notes in Bloomerang (payments are received via check,
Paypal, Bloomerang, credit card, ACH, etc.), as well as updating payments, receipts, check
requests, sponsorship logos, RSVPs, timelines, and other event specific details in the Google
Tracker.
● Guides donor stewardship efforts across the Serviam Community by drafting thank
you/acknowledgment letters and requesting Gift In Kind Forms.
● Respond to donor questions and/or direct them appropriately to ensure effective day-to-day
operations.
● Manage online silent auction app and online presence by inputting item descriptions, acquiring
photos of items, collecting payments, and scheduling donation pick-ups.
● Assist with website updates.
● Work with the Managing Director of Development, President, and Accounting Team to request and
provide donor data to track campaigns, vendor payments, financial reporting, and other purposes.
● Assist with all aspects of our annual events, Evening under the Stars and Pars for Stars, including
leading event registration, event prep, set-up, day-of-event coordination, sponsor communications,
payment processing, and event breakdown.
● Ability to work remotely and evenings when needed
● Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
● 3+ years of administrative support experience.
● Experience with Bloomerang donor management system.
● Experience tracking, organizing, summarizing, and communicating details of a project.
● Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment, energized to deliver a quality product.
● Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices,
smartphones, cameras, and other office equipment, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
