Position: Director of Finance & Administration 

Reports to: President & CEO 

FLSA Status: Full Time Exempt

Description:

Special Olympics Delaware (SODE) seeks an experienced individual to oversee our finance department. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy are important qualifications for this position. The ideal candidate for this position has experience with QuickBooks, has overseen company audits, can handle month AR, invoices, and journal entries. Candidate must be reliable, a team player, and a skilled multi-tasker. 

Major Responsibilities 

• Works with external auditors to ensure all compliance and reporting requirements are met 

• Assists in preparation of forms including 990, 5500 SF, W-9 forms, 1099 NEC forms and W-2 forms 

• Executes invoices in a timely manner, maintains accounting files, and ensures the organization remains in good standing with vendors 

• Processes bank deposits and prepare entries to record all cash receipts 

• Completes monthly bank reconciliations of all financial accounts 

• Develops journal entries, prepares financial statements, and drafts variance explanations 

• Responsible for the bookkeeping and accounting system 

• Oversees the database of credit card transactions and prepares monthly credit card journal entry 

• Manages a record of in-kind donations and reconciles pledge donations 

• Assists in generating yearly budget 

• Writes and identifies grants, foundations, and national and state funding opportunities 

• Reviews contracts and requests certificate of insurance for events and programs 

• Processes employee hire, employee payroll, and termination paperwork 

• Oversees employee benefits and retirement plans 

• Assists in maintaining and procuring necessary business insurance policies 

• Assists in drafting and developing policies and procedures for the organization 

• Supports the organization’s mission, program activities, events, and other functions 

• Such other responsibilities as requested by the CEO

Qualifications 

• Finance or Accounting degree required, or five years of finance department experience 

• Preferred certification CPA or CMA 

• Expertise with Word, Excel, Outlook, and QuickBooks 

• Meticulous attention to detail 

• Highly organized with the ability to successfully handle multiple projects, prioritize work, and adapt easily to changing priorities while meeting critical deadlines 

• Proven ability to work as a team player with various groups and organizations 

• Ability to exercise good judgment and diplomacy in dealing with volunteer leadership 

• Able to occasionally lift and move 25-50 pounds 

• Must be able to pass a background check

Compensation

o Salary range $55,000 - $65,000

Schedule

 o 40 hours/week on site
