Position Summary

As the Marketing and Events Manager for Spotlight Delaware, reporting to the COO, you will be responsible for working with team members to develop and execute marketing plans; planning, managing and staffing events; developing marketing and event materials and donor communications; making website updates; creating social media and email campaigns; and providing general marketing and administrative support. 


Key Responsibilities

This role requires considerable flexibility, working time outside of traditional office hours, reliable transportation, willingness to travel throughout the state and physical mobility.

Strategic Marketing:

Collaborate with the COO to develop and execute a strategic marketing plan focused on enhancing the Spotlight brand, donor communications, community engagement, and audience development.


Events Management:

Under the leadership of the Director of Community Engagement, help execute, promote and staff community engagement activities, including large-scale events, community listening sessions, pop-up newsrooms, live journalism sessions and more.

Under the leadership of the Director of Development, help execute, promote and staff donor engagement events.


Audience and Membership Support:

Work with the Audience and Membership Manager to execute and monitor social media campaigns and membership newsletters.


Marketing Materials:

Create simple marketing materials using tools like Canva (e.g., flyers, worksheets, online forms).

Manage vendors to create more complex pieces, including quarterly and annual reports, end-of-year materials, and other donor engagement and solicitation materials.


General Marketing, PR, and Administrative Support:

Help the CEO and other leadership team members with communications needs, such as developing presentations, coordinating public appearances and more.

Take simple photos and videos, and perform basic photo and video editing.

Record, edit and produce podcasts.

Audit and update/improve presentation slides, stationery, materials, and newsletter templates.

Draft press releases and other written materials, issue press releases and hire marketing photographers, videographers and other contractors as needed.


Education and Experience Requirements 

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.

Minimum Experience: 3+ years experience in events management, marketing and/or communications.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Experience in event management and community engagement.

Excellent writing and verbal communication abilities.

Proficiency in social media, email marketing, and website design and management.

Design skills, using tools such as Canva.

Basic photography, videography, and multimedia editing capabilities.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

Spotlight Delaware Benefits

Compensation: $55,000-$70,000 depending on experience and qualifications
