The non profit and philanthropic sector can be confusing, especially to an individual starting out in the field. From private foundations and corporations to public charities and more, it can be overwhelming to understand how and where to start!

This webinar will be led by Melissa Micek.
Melissa joined Philanthropy Delaware in April 2019 as the Director of Engagement. In this role, she oversees membership engagement and programmatic affairs.
Melissa graduated from the University of Delaware, where she received her Master of Public Administration. She served as a graduate research assistant for local education policy. Upon graduation, she served as a Pathways Student Trainee and was converted to a Loan Specialist with the U.S. Department of Agricultural (USDA), Rural Development, Business & Cooperative Programs. She served rural small businesses, cooperatives, and nonprofits throughout Delaware and Maryland. Melissa is passionate about empowering and connecting others with available resources to enhance their wellbeing.
Melissa received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from Lynchburg College, now known as the University of Lynchburg. Her liberal arts background significantly shaped her creative problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. As a life-long Delawarean, she is committed to serving her local community as a transformative-style leader. With her persistent curiosity, you can find Melissa either at trivia night or reading a library book at a coffee shop.
