Maximizing Interactions with Your Elected Officials
Delaware is a small state of neighbors, but some of our neighbors have the ability to raise an organization’s profile and to make decisions that could greatly benefit their future.
Inviting an elected official – whether local, statewide or federal – to visit your nonprofit can seem daunting, but it can be extremely beneficial. However, there are some best practices to employ that will help ensure an accepted invitation and a successful visit – for both of you.
During this Marcomm Community of Practice, DANA VP of Marketing & Communications Drew Volturo will facilitate a discussion about inviting elected officials and other decisionmakers and how to maximize this opportunity.
You’ll leave this COP with:
- A deeper understanding of how to coordinate with elected officials and their teams.
- Ideas for events that appeal to elected officials and better ensure their attendance.
- Strategies for how to best leverage the officials’ presence.
About the presenter: Drew Volturo is DANA’s Vice President of Marketing & Communications. Before joining DANA, Drew worked for 15 years for the Delaware House Majority Caucus, providing communications services to more than two dozen state representatives. He also worked for Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long and spent eight years as a political reporter for the Delaware State News.
