Event Details

Delaware’s Personal Data Privacy Act becomes effective on January 1, 2025, and applies to both for-profit and nonprofit business entities. This new law helps protect Delawareans' personal data privacy and gives Delaware residents more control over their data. This workshop will help nonprofit organizations understand the requirements of the Personal Data Privacy Act and how best to implement it.

About the speaker John Allen Eakins, Deputy Attorney General:

John recently joined the Delaware Department of Justice, focused on enforcing Delaware’s new Personal Data Privacy Act. Before joining the DDOJ, John led e-commerce expansion for an international cosmetics company in Southeast Asia after completing an MBA at the National University of Singapore. John also worked as a lawyer at Ross Aronstam & Moritz in Wilmington, and Cahill Gordon & Reindel in New York, focused on corporate litigation. John completed his JD at NYU Law School and his bachelor’s at the University of Delaware. John is originally from Newark, Delaware, and is passionate about the intersection of technology and the law.
