Practical Leadership 1.0: Cultivating Thriving Supervisory Relationships is a six-hour virtual training spread over three two-hour sessions, March 4, 5, and 6, 2025 from 1 pm – 3 pm Central. Eastern Time 2pm-4pm Practical

As members of DANA, you are eligible for member pricing at MNA’s events for yourself and your whole organization. Simply select the member rate when registering and be sure to provide your state when asked during registration, to verify. No code needed!


The only change to registration this year is that we are offering only a whole-organization registration option, rather than both an individual and a whole-org option. Pricing is set above the old individual rate and below the old whole-org rate, and everyone at the organization (staff, volunteer, and board) is welcome attend or watch the course.

Practical Leadership Training Series Practical Leadership 1.0: Cultivating Thriving Supervisory Relationships

Dates: March 4-6, 2025 Time: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Central (daily) 

Format: Virtual via Zoom Cost: $135 DANA members / $175 nonmembers 

This foundational course focuses on developing effective supervisory skills and creating healthy organizational cultures. Spread across three two-hour sessions, this highly interactive training provides immediately implementable tools and strategies for supervisors. 

Key Topics: Cultivating self-awareness and emotional intelligence Understanding privilege and power in supervisory roles Holding difficult conversations Six essential supervision skills Coach approach to supervision 

Learning Outcomes: Participants will develop competencies in supervisory roles, learn to avoid toxic workplace behaviors, improve comfort with developmental feedback, and master fundamental coaching components including listening and inquiry. 

Additional Information for Course

Instructor Lisa Negstad is a distinguished consultant specializing in leadership and organizational development. With an MBA from Yale and a B.A. in Psychology from Luther College, she brings extensive experience from senior leadership positions in international and U.S.-based nonprofits. Lisa is certified as a human systems dynamics professional and emphasizes inclusive, participatory processes in her training approach.

Note: While these courses (Practical Leadership 1.0 & 2.0) complement each other, they contain no repeated material. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions for comprehensive leadership development.
