You are invited to join Governor John Carney as he signs a proclamation marking Tuesday, November 28th as Giving Tuesday recognizing the work of Delaware nonprofits in our communities.

On Tuesday, November 28^th, 12:30 p.m. in Tatnall, in coordination with the Delaware General Assembly, Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement and the Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware, Governor John Carney will be signing a proclamation declaring the day ‘Giving Tuesday’. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

In 2016, the fifth year of #GivingTuesday, millions of people in 98 countries came together to give back and support the causes they believe in. Over $177 million was raised online to benefit a tremendously broad range of organizations, and much more was given in volunteer hours, donations of food, clothing, and acts of kindness. The campaign provides a framework and ideas for people to choose their own best way to contribute to their communities and will provide the citizens of Delaware with an opportunity to share their giving story.
